Resistance and Resilience are a very big part of ecology and keeping a sustainable enviroment. Basically, Resistance and Resilience are and show how a specific ecosystem responds to a disturbance by resisting damage from weather etc. If any damage is inflicted, then we see how it responds and hopefully recovers as quick as possible.
Here is a perfect example of Resistance and Resilience as you can see in the above image, this plant was once populated with other plants around it as well but as you can see the ground is massively craked and that is the reult of water once being there but then the sun came along and heated the soil very bad to the point that all plants died. But as yu alraeady noticed, it has recovered quite quickly from suffereing a massive drought there is plants popping right back up and that shows that the soil was ricjh in nutrients and the plant had a big resistance rate since it is coming back up preety amazing right?!
High Biodiversity Promotes good Resistance and Resilience,The images above you have examined are BARELY lucky to have sprouted again for being strong enough for tolerating whatever the issue was! Lets forget that the Sun is not the only factor that affects plants but us Humans, that's right, us!
Human activities also have a great impact in the results of plants looking like they just sprouted from some minimal disaster, lets talk about human activities, by human activities we're referring to land use, and obviously pollution! The number one factor is pollution, we pollute in many different ways but our number one way of polluting when it comes to the environment and Agroecology's the use of pesticides! Pesticides are great for our environment and for protecting our crops and delivering fresh food to our tables in America without those icky insect bites on our produce right?
Not exactly, let me stop you there. First of all there is not one Pro to using pesticides on our produce, maybe 1 and that's keeping insects off of our produce but in the long run not so much. The most common used pesticides to eliminate those pesky weeds around our lawn and maybe sometimes even around a farm is Round-Up. Round -Up has an active ingredient known as Glyphosate, It is the main active ingredient in the round up weed killer and probably other pesticides, it is used so often that it is a big factor that is affecting our Environment in many ways. For one, Us humans do not have the proper immune system to be eating all the chemicals and pesticides that are used on our fresh produce to increase growth rate and protect them from insect bites, all those chemicals we eat don't make us sick but when we do get sick from a cold or anything as a result, we are now immune to the antibiotics we take because of the darn chemicals we eat in our produce. Our other problem is the fact that when that stuff is sprayed it doesn't go away, it stays in the soil so when it rains and as the water cycle is in process while water run off it carries all those chemicals and pesticides we have sprayed and end up in rivers and streams, the worst part now is we have contaminated our water in which fish live in and we eat those fish so we are also basically "Intoxicating" our actual food besides produce.
