What is an Ecosystem? An ecosystem consists of a community of organisms and their interactions with each other.
To be a little more descriptive, An ecosystem includesall the living things ( plants, animals, and other organisms you name it) in a given area that interact with eachother and also their non-livong factors such as The sun, climate, soil etc.

In the Image above you can see an example and what our ecosystem is made up off. Each organism and living thing listed in the picture above ( yes plants are living!!) have and play an important role that keep this ecosystem healthly and going. An ecosystem is very delicate, if you remove ( ofciurse you cant remove anything) but for example if the producers completley die off, then the whole pyramid will come to an end because The image above shows that Primary consumers rely on the producers for food and as we go up in the pyramid the organisms below them is what they rely on for food so if the producers are taken out of there the Primary consumers will die off because they have nothing to eat, and so on in the pyramid untill nothing is left so it is very important to take care of our ecosystem and yes as described before, human activities can and will definatley interfere with the health of our ecosystem.
(Fun Fact:) Did you know that when a primary consumer eats a producer it only gets 10% of its energy? Crazy but true! only Ten percent of the energy is consummed by the next level in the pyramid the rest is lost as heat! thats right 90% of it is lost as heat so much gone to waste but thats the way it is and the number will get even smaller as we go up in the pyramid.

On the other hand, Our Nitrogen Cycle is just as important as our Ecosystem. The nitrogen cycle basically consists of a process in which nitrogen and its compounds are intro converted between the environment and living organisms including nitrogen fixation and decomposition. As you can see from the image on the right that the nitrogen cycle has a lot to do with our soil fertility and our crops. there is a reason why our soil is rich in nutrients but mostly nitrogen, Nitrous oxide from fossil fuels go up in the atmosphere and then precipitates as nitric acid water, that water falls into our land and waters, as runoff from our nitrates enter the water they soak into our soil and then that water rises to the top to the point that a crop that happens to be there absorbs the nutrients from the nitrogen rich soil and makes very healthy plants, then our cattle eat some of those crops and then the animals produce waste and the active bacteria in that animal waste are broken down by decomposes then rise back to the air and finally the process is repeated to maintain a healthy environment, one of the may ways to do so. |
Just like our Ecosystem and Nitrogen Cycle, the Carbon cycle is just as Important. It is necessary for the carbon to be cycled in the oceans, atmosphere and ecosystems. All living organism are mainly built of carbon compounds, even us humans have the carbon compound in our bodies. Another important compound our body is composed of that we just talked about is Nitrogen! Carbon is mainly the result from the burning of fossil fuels for the most part, as time goes by it looks like carbon levels are increasing in our atmosphere at a moderate rate. The carbon Cycle is very IMPORTANT without it, serious problems in global warming and climate may result. To help out the Environment as humans, its best we start taking action and start using other sources of energy such as Nuclear power, Solar Power, and Wind Power. Its definantly not guaranteed these will not contaminate our air butit sure does guarrante a less contaminated enviroment from using/ minimizing the use of fossil fuels as out main source of energy. For example, Thank God we have found a way to bring green energy (electric) into our modern vehicles now thats a great start to eliminate the ammount of CO2 in our Air, as time goes by, letshope scientists progress in finding similar to even better ways of improving our sources of energy that we use.
